Teaching Practicum ll - reflection eleven

My second experience was on Monday 25th September 2017. I was teaching at 3.50 pm again; my students were only 5 this time, and I could say that I was so much confident compared to the first class. I started the class with a warm up activity "hot potato" they were very motivated while they were playing.

This time it was different because I had to prepare a lesson with grammar point “Gerunds with possessives”. I tried to include a reading about community problems with the use of gerunds. On the other  hand, I could notice that some of them were willing to participate every time I asked them to do so. 

For example, I asked them to prepare a dialogue by using gerunds and possessives they did pretty good, but some mistakes were corrected. I finished my class with a short review about the topic which is good for them.

As a conclusion, I can say that this group is amazing because all of them respected me and tried to help me a lot. Finally, I can say, I feel so comfortable being with them, Of course I am waiting for my last teaching experience.  

Teaching Practicum ll - reflection Ten

My first experience as a teacher in the second period was on Monday september 11th 2017. My Group is Advanced English and this time I had to introduce a new Unit "looking good". I was a little nervous, but when I started the class my nerves disappear very quickly because my students were nice during the whole class and they were just a few around nine students; The atmosphere of the class was appropriate since they, with their good attitude helped me a lot to develop the activities. I felt very motivated while I was teaching; also I tried to give clear directions so that students could understand everything. During the class I didnt detect any problem; however, in my next class I will try to involve them, so that they can participate more. Finally, I can say my first experience as a teacher in this period it was nice because I enjoyed while I was teaching. I hope my next class will be successful, so my students can learn a little bit more.

Teaching practicum ll - reflection nine

My last experience was on Thursday  17th August 2017. I was teaching at 6:45 am again; my students were a little bit nervous because they had an exam later, and I could say that I was so much confident compared to the first class. I started the class with a warm up activity "ninja hands" they were a little bit confused because It was their first time playing the game, so I decided to explain twice

This time it was different because I had to prepare a lesson only with free activities and the topic was "future perfect".I tried to include a reading about finantial IQ or money matters also I prepared some questions for them to speak in groups ; I could notice that some of them were very motivated during the activities and willing to participate every time I asked them to do so. I finished my class with a short presentation per each group they had to choose a person and performed for the class. 

As a conclusion, I can say that this group is incredible because all of them respected me and tried to help me a lot to develop all my activities. Finally, I can say, I feel so bleesed being with them and teach them, I am waiting for my next experiences in the future.

Teaching practicum ll - Eight reflection

My second experience was on Tuesday  8th August 2017. I was teaching at 6:45 am again; my students were a little bit tired this time and I could say that I was so much confident compared to the first class. I started the class with a warm up activity "Guess who am I" they were a little bit confused because It was their first time playing the game, so I decided to explain twice; This time it was different because I had to prepare a lesson only with free activities, and the topic was "the present pefect and present perfect continuous".I tried to include a reading about beethoven also I prepared situations in which they had to create speeches; I could notice that some of them were very motivated during the activities and willing to participate every time I asked them to do so. On the other hand, I could notice that they sometimes do not understand the meaning of some words, but this time they asked me. 

As a conclusion, I can say that this group is amazing because all of them respected me and tried to help me a lot to develop all my activities. Finally I can say, I feel so bleesed being with them, I am waiting my last experience this coming week.

Teaching Practicum ll - Reflection Seven

My first experience was on Tuesday 25th July 2017. I was teaching at 6:45 am; the weather was nice my students were very shy this time and I could say that I was a little nervous because I did not know the group well. I started the class with a warm up activity the hot potato they liked it a lot; I had to explain new unit (the present perfect and present perfect continuous) I tried to explain as clear as possible by using charts, also I included a lot of speaking activities, and details from the book. My last activity was a role play that they had to create based on the topic (the present perfect and the present perfect continuous). In general, I could notice that some of them were very motivated and willing to participate every time I asked them to do so, but some others dont. On the other hand, I could notice that they sometimes do not understand the meaning of some words, and they did not asked me anything even though I told them to do. As a conclusion, I can say that some students were shy, but some of them tried to participate mostly all the time so in my future classes I need to encourage them even more; they are amazing students, I will try to improve more in my next practice; I can not wait for my next experience.

Teaching Practicum l - Reflection 6

My last experience was on Monday 3rd April 2017. I was teaching at 4:00 pm. Even though the weather was hotter than ever, my students were very active. This time my class was different because I was feeling a little bit sick. Also all my activities were free, so I tried to include many in which they could speak a lot, create, and think as much as possible. I started the class with a warm up activity; then I continue with the next activity "the cards game" in which I gave them random pieces of papers and they had to look for a partner and continue asking the questions. My next activity was two questions in which they had to discuss for a moment with the person next to them and then they had to discuss the questions in front of everybody. I decided to include a short reading in which I read some sentences and they had to tell me if they were true or false. My last activity was a role play that they had to create based on two questions that I wrote on the white board. In general, I could notice that they were very motivated and willing to participate every time I asked them to do so. On the other hand, I could notice that they sometimes do not understand the meaning of some words, so in my next teaching practice I would like to have a little space in the white board so that I can write down some words that probably they do not know.

As a conclusion, I can say that I enjoyed all my classes with this group; they are amazing students, and I will try to improve more in my next practice. I feel proud of everything I've done so far. I cannot wait for my future practices.

Teaching Practicum l - Fifth Reflection

My second experience on the second period was on March, 27th 2017; I started the class at 3.00 pm o’clock. They were very energetic and even though the weather was so warm, they were willing to participate in every activity. My students loved the games so I tried to include at least one nice warm up so that they had fun before starting the class.

The warm up I chose was ''Draw it first'' in which they had to choose a representative and had to guess as fast as they could, so the group that guessed the most drawings were the winners. On the other hand, they worked very well as a team. Then, I continued with the presentation of the topic. I chose a small reading for them so that they could underline the words either in present continuous or present simple. During this activity I observed that they were very connected trying to help each other. After that, we were discussing some questions about the reading. Then, I gave the grammar point by using colorful charts with the definition and some examples. The first activity was a fill in the blanks in which they had around 3 minutes to do it, and then, we were sharing answers. They tried to participate a lot. In the next activity, I gave them pieces of paper in which they had to choose the correct tense; they developed this activity very fast, which means they understood.

My last activity was a dialogue which they had to complete in pairs. Then, they had to perform in front of everybody, but I could notice something: They were speaking in Spanish so I tried to encourage them to talk in English. I think this activity was worth it because at the end they wanted to pass.

As a conclusion, I think being a teacher is not an easy task but we need to express our good attitude towards the students so that we can create a good environment in the class.

Teaching Praticum l - Fourth Reflection

My fourth experience was on March, 15th 2017. I was assigned to teach in English Access; I started my class at 3:00 pm o clock; I was not nervous at all because my students were very friendly. I developed a warm up ‘’write it fast’’, but before to start the game I decided to explained twice so that they could understand better.

After the game, I continued with an activity in which they had to complete a box with sentences that they had in the paper. They were working really fast, and at the end of the activity we checked together. In my next activity, I asked them to work in a fill-in the blanks in which they just had to add the third person singular; they did it pretty good, and I just tried to monitor while they were working. At the end of the activity once again we checked together. My third activity was a matching activity in which they had to use the verbs from the previous exercise and match them in the correct blank space. I think they did a pretty good job because they were always willing to participate. Then I moved to the next activity, “Swap the Cards,” in which they had fun because they chose two cards. After that they were asking questions as a group, and finally they found their own cards. I think it is a great idea to include activities in which they can work as a team. My last activity was a Role Play in which I tried to give them some topics. For example, “someone who does not study for the test,” “things I like and I don’t like to do at school,” etc. My students could work as a group again and continue practicing the simple present (positive, negative and questions form).

Finally, I can say that I really enjoyed my class, and even though the weather was very hot, I tried to do my best by giving clear instructions and giving examples at the same time.  Now I cannot wait for my second practice.

Teaching Practicum l - Third Reflection

My last experience

 

My last class was on February 14^th, 2017. I started the class by greeting my students; then, I started my class with a warm up activity called “pass the dice” in which they had a lot of fun while playing. Then, I split the group by using numbers in that way they could interact with someone different. After that, I presented the grammar point by using one conversation that was on the book. I also tried to include a short listening. After that, I explained the grammar by using a big chart. I could notice they had lots of questions related to the topic; I tried to clarify some doubts at the end.

After the grammar explanation, students were developing some activities. For example, a fill in the blanks in which they had to use the correct preposition. The second activity was a matching activity, and before starting the activities I gave them examples, and at the end, they shared their answers. My last activity was a chain speaking activity “Where on Earth are you?” I think this kind of activity was helpful for them because they could express their ideas, they were interacting in couples, and they presented to the class.

As a conclusion, I really liked my last experience as a real teacher because I could notice they enjoyed every activity as much as I did. On the other hand, they themselves could see the importance of the language points discussed in class and the satisfaction that most of them showed when using them. Overall, I learned a lot from them and I am pretty sure they could learn a little bit from me.

Teaching Practicum l - Second Class

My Second experience was on February 7^th, 2017. This time was a little different because I was not nervous at all. I started my class by developing a warm up activity ‘’ninja hands.’’ They understood the activity, but before starting the game I modeled an example. After that I made a review about adjectives and nationalities, so I pasted a big chart on the white board. I tried to explain the chart as clear as possible; then I gave them pieces of paper that contained the ‘’BINGO GAME,’’ in which students had to mark the nationalities with an ‘’X’’ just if they had it in the paper.

In my second activity, I asked them to open their books, but some of them did not have books yet, so I made groups of three, so they could share and work at the same time. My third activity was a speaking activity in which they had to practice a dialogue. At the end I chose some of them randomly to perform in front of us, I think they did a pretty good job because they were willing to participate; also they asked me about the words they did not know.

My last activity, was ‘’who is your famous person?’’ It was a speaking activity in which I tried to include famous people, so my students could describe by using details, adjectives, nationalities. I think they had so much fun trying to guess who the famous person was.

Finally, I can say that I really enjoyed this class, and while I was teaching I felt comfortable. On the other hand, there are many aspects to improve that I will try to do it in my future classes.

Teaching Practicum l - First Class

My first experience as a teacher it was on Thursday February, 2nd 2017. My first Group was Basic English and the topic was WH- questions with verb ''BE'', at the beginning of the class I was very nervous, but when I started the class my nerves disappear very quickly because my students were nice during the whole class. The atmosphere of the class was appropriate since they, with their good attitude helped me a lot to develop the activities. I felt very motivated while I was teaching; also I tried to give clear directions so that students could understand better. The problem that I could detect is that, the girls are very shy, so in my next class I will try to involve them even more so that they can participate.

  

Finally, my first experience as a teacher it was nice because I enjoyed while I was teaching. I hope my next class will be better, so my students can learn more.
